At first place, the user is presented with a white altar that simply elevates the food for display. However, when trying to grab the mochi, their finger interferes with the optical illusion, revealing that the food was not real.
Then, the waiter removes the white cover, uncovering the optical illusion created by two mirrors that project the hidden food inside the dish.
The design changes the way restaurant guests interact with food and encourages user engagement. It represents the words 'magic, playfulness, and provocation' that are part of the restaurant's conceptual menu
